Twill Fabric

What is Twill Fabric?

Twill is one of the basic types of textile weaves, others being plain weave and satin. With twill fabric, the weft (lengthwise) thread is passed over one or more warp (width wise) threads and then under two or more warp threads. This offset creates a diagonal ribbing effect. Denim is the most well-known example of twill fabric, but this pattern is often seen in other garments like chinos, tweed jackets, and dress shirts. Larger twill weaves are well-suited for casual clothing, while finer twills make for great for more formal pieces.
