Donegal Sweater in Sandstone

$175

These Donegal yarns, named after the remote Irish county where they were woven, turn a classic crewneck into a canvas for rich textures and colors. Australian merino wool fibers are woven in Donegal, Ireland, where they take on their iconic speckled appearance. The yarn then travels to a family-owned factory in Scotland that has been an industry leader for over 100 years. There, the sweaters are knit in a “fully fashioned” method—a traditional technique that results in a completely seamless garment.

The ivory backdrop of this sweater is studded with flecks of brown, black, and cream, giving it a speckled and sandy appearance.

Fit

Our sweaters are designed to fit cleanly and close to the body, and offer a moderately slim fit that isn’t too long. Most men should stay true-to-size, but if you are in-between sizes or prefer a more classic fit we recommend that you size up.

Fabric

This 100% merino wool is sourced from Australia, where the most prized herds of merino sheep live their lives. The wool is then sent to the Donegal region of Ireland, where a decades-old mill turns them into the mottled yarn that the region has become known for. The low-gauge knit means that the sweater will have a chunky, weighty, feel, while the merino wool keeps it feeling soft and comfortable.

Factory

Our sweaters are knit by a family-owned factory in Scotland that has been an industry leader for over 100 years. These sweaters are ‘full-fashioned,’ meaning that they are knitted in one continuous piece which results in a seamless garment. While most knitwear is made from cut panels that are sewn together, ours are made in the most traditional method. There aren’t many factories left that will produce sweaters in this way, and we’re lucky to partner with one that still uses these techniques.
