Donegal Sweater in Sandstone

This sweater combines a few of our favorite things: flecked donegal yarn in earthy colors, soft merino wool, and a chunky knit that makes the cold months more bearable. The yarn is woven in Donegal, Ireland, the birthplace of this speckled style. It’s then knit into a crewneck in Scotland, using traditional seamless construction techniques. It’s a classic style that’s easy to wear, but made a bit more interesting through the variegated colors that Irish donegal yarn is known for.

Our sweaters are designed to fit clean and close to the body, and offer a moderately slim fit that isn’t too long. Most guys should stay true-to-size, but if you’re in-between sizes and prefer a classic fit we’d recommend sizing up.

This 100% merino wool is sourced from Australia, where the most prized herds of merino sheep live their lives. The wool is then sent to the Donegal region of Ireland, where a decades-old mill turns them into the mottled yarn that the region has become known for. The low-gauge knit means that the sweater will have a chunky, weighty, feel, while the merino wool keeps it feeling soft and comfortable.

Fully fashioned

These sweaters are ‘fully fashioned,’ meaning that they are knitted in one continuous piece which results in a seamless garment. While most knitwear is made from cut panels that are sewn together, ours are made in the most traditional method. There aren’t many factories left that will product sweaters in this way, and we’re lucky to partner with one that still uses these techniques.
